Grades

You can check your grade for this class online at another website – Engrade. Early in the school year, I will give you the information you need to create an account. Afterwards, you can log into the Engrade site and see a record of every assignment you’ve done, the grade you got on each assignment, and any assignments that you haven’t done.

In general, your grade is a balance of five types of assignments – homework, classwork, projects, quizzes, and tests. Each assignment is worth a certain amount of points. More important assignments are worth more, and less important assignments are worth less. A homework assignment, for example, might only be worth 10 or 15 points, while a quiz could be worth 50 points.

To determine you current grade in the class, add up the total number of points you have earned and divide this number by the total number of points you could have earned.  Engrade will tell you both the grade you earned on an assignment and how many points it is possible to earn.

The result will be a number between 0 and 1.  In other words, the answer is a percent.  For example, if you earned 150 points out of a possible 180 points, the result would be 0.83 or 83%.  That would be a B.
